LiveDAYBREAK Welcomes New Board Member- Anndalyn Hobbs

LiveDAYBREAK is pleased to welcome Anndalyn Hobbs as the newest LiveDAYBREAK Board Member. Anndalyn and her family have lived in Daybreak for five years. In that time, she has participated in and volunteered at a majority of the activities organized by LiveDAYBREAK each year.

Not only has Anndalyn volunteered for our events, she has gotten involved in a more official capacity as a member of the Arts Council. She has helped to bring numerous murals, sculptures and other art installations to Daybreak through the years. Currently she is working on bringing a new community art project to the Community Center this spring. Her passion and artistic talent has allowed her to make unique contributions to events. The fun, western photo booth cutout for the Daddy Daughter Dance this year was painted by Anndalyn.

“I was drawn to play a more active part of LiveDAYBREAK and particularly on this board because my personal core values align so well with the mission of the LiveDAYBREAK organization,” said Anndalyn. “I absolutely love our community and look forward to serving in this new capacity.”

We are lucky to have her join the board. Welcome Anndalyn!

New Disc Golf Course at Brookside Park

After strong resident feedback, the Daybreak Community Association removed the disc golf baskets from Linear Park and has been looking for another location for the course. We have identified the south side of Brookside Park as a potential new location for the 9-hole disc golf course. The topography of the park optimizes a professional grade that will enhance the public use of this open space.

LiveDAYBREAK Recognized at the Chamber Vision Dinner

At this year’s 2019 Vision Dinner hosted by the South Jordan Chamber of Commerce, LiveDaybreak was recognized for two contributions. Our partnership with the Alzheimer's Association, Utah Chapter for Rock the Wald led to a Community Hero Award for the 2018 Daybreak Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Through this event we raised more than $51,000 for the Association. The porch concerts were a big hit! Ronnie Daniel, Executive director of the Utah chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, accepted the award and thanked our own Aimee Myers for making the walk a success.

Daybreak R.A.D. Award - Steve Sahlin

Daybreak R.A.D. Award - Steve Sahlin

Steve Sahlin is the Resident Appreciation in Daybreak (R.A.D.) Award recipient for February. He is known as the man who anyone in the neighborhood can call and count on for help with a project. Steve has helped countless people with their car troubles and you can always bet on him being the first person to help a neighbor in a bind (or in over their heads with a project). Neighbors say he is helpful and dependable!

The Sahlins moved to Daybreak in November of 2009. The family chose Daybreak because of the diversity of people and architecture of the homes. The architecture reminded Steve of the community where he came from originally in Vermont. They also had several friends in the community.

Steve likes the open spaces that allow him to go on walks in Daybreak and the Summer Concerts are a lot of fun for the family. The Sahlins have great neighbors who are community minded, friendly, helpful and growth-minded.

Steve’s hobbies include skiing, cooking, woodworking, reading and serving others. He also volunteers as Chairman of the Board for "Handful of Hope," an organization that has a program to help at-risk youth weather challenges.

About the LiveDAYBREAK R.A.D. Award

Giving back is one of LiveDAYBREAK's pillars, and we are looking for a Daybreak resident who personifies this value. We need your help to identify these types of residents, so we might reward them with the LiveDAYBREAK Resident Appreciation in Daybreak Award. The LiveDAYBREAK R.A.D. Award is our way of spotlighting Daybreak residents who make our community better. We will choose one nominee every other month for the award and highlight their good deed on our website.

Nominate a fellow Daybreak resident for the R.A.D. Award

Volunteer Activities Council Spotlight - January

Volunteer Activities Council Spotlight - January

Tawna Pippin and her family moved to Daybreak in June of 2012 in search of lasting friendships and neighborhood schools for their kids. From their home, they can walk to the gym, up the hill to Soda Row to enjoy summer concerts or stroll around the lake. There is always something to do nearby and that is why they love where they live. Giving back to the community was important and volunteering has always been a family affair.
