Rock the Walk to End Alzheimer’s

LiveDAYBREAK is teaming up with the Alzheimer’s Association to Rock the Walk on Saturday, September 22nd. You are probably familiar with the well-known Walk To End Alzheimer’s with participants dressed in a slew of purple to support the cause. In true LiveDAYBREAK style, we are taking the event to the next level. Walkers will stroll down memory lane and listen to favorite songs from decades past with porch concerts located along the route. The bands offer participants a fun alternative to the classic walk with short sets of fun music.

The community is also invited to show their support in the weeks leading up to the event by adding a splash of the signature purple color. The Association says it is neither red nor blue, but purple. One opportunity to show support is to light Daybreak in purple. For a $5 donation, residents can purchase a purple lightbulb to display on their porch from September 9th-22nd. We hope to light the community and bulbs can be purchased at the Farmer's Market or Daybreak Community Center starting September 4th. Swirly Girls is also embracing the color splash with purple cupcakes. Customers can buy these specially-branded treats from September 10th-22nd. Proceeds of course go to the Alzheimer’s Association to help find a cure.

If you want to know more about the music, here is a bit about the four bands who will be rocking the walk:

Midlife Crisis

Mid-Life Crisis has been entertaining audiences since 2001. Begun as a band to support the kick-off of the Layton City Family Recreation program, the group didn’t really expect to perform again. But after that performance, requests starting coming in and the band has been playing together ever since.

Dizzy Desoto

It may be too late to book Buddy Holly or Elvis Presley for your party, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the timeless music created during the Golden Age of rock and roll. Dizzy Desoto’s Tribute Band will deliver a high-energy blast-from-the-past show. Alternative Nation After a highly successful stint making music in the 90’s, legendary band Alternative Nation is back to bring 90’s music and culture back to the masses.

Rumor Has It

Rumor Has It was recently recognized by the national CUMULUS radio broadcasting group as one of the top ten new national bands on the scene. The 5-piece band is well versed in everyone’s classic rock favorites, modern country and current pop covers.

E.Z Money Band

From Ogden Utah, this band plays all your favorite top 40 party cover songs from the 70's and beyond. E.Z Money Lead Vocalist Art Gruber, has been performing around the Ogden area in one form or another for over 30 yrs. They play radio classics from the 70's all the way through to some current music.
